Crossroads Insurance Brokers Promotes Responsible Living Through Alcohol Awareness Session at NPI Factory

Crossroads Insurance Brokers Promotes Responsible Living Through Alcohol Awareness Session at NPI Factory
It wasn't framed as a lecture. When Crossroads Insurance Brokers Insurance showed up at National Paper Industry's Ajman factory on July 3rd to talk about alcohol, they brought doctors from Aster Clinic who treated it like a conversation, not a warning.
The one-hour session ran from 3 to 4 PM, and the focus was straightforward: what alcohol actually does to your body, why it matters at work, and what to do if it becomes a problem.
One of the doctors explained organ damage—how the liver and heart take hits with heavy drinking. He talked about productivity tanking. People get foggy, make mistakes, miss work. Projects fall behind. Relationships with colleagues get strained. Then there's the mental side. Anxiety gets worse. Depression creeps in. Sleep gets ruined. Everything spirals from there.
But what stood out for many employees was the part about not waiting until everything falls apart. The medical team spent time on spotting early signs. How do you know if a person is drinking too much? Mood changes. Morning shakes. Needing a drink to sleep. Lying about how much they drink. Relationships getting strained.
One of the doctors said, "Individuals  don't always see it in themselves”. But you might notice it in someone else."
That shift—from just listing problems to talking about recognizing them early—seemed to hit differently.

The Practical Part

After laying out what goes wrong, the doctors pivoted. They talked about handling stress without alcohol. Exercise helps. Sleep matters. Talking to people about what's bothering you actually works. Managing anxiety takes practice, but it's doable. None of it was presented as easy, just as necessary.
Someone in the room asked what happens when someone wants help. The Aster Clinic doctors went through what's available. Counseling. Medical support. Places to call at any time of day. The point they made: there's less stigma than people think. You're not weak for struggling. You're practical for getting help.
The employees seemed to appreciate this part most. Getting information about actual resources they could use—not judgment, not scare tactics, just "here's what exists."

Why This Matters at Work

Most workplace wellness talks stick to fitness or nutrition. Alcohol is trickier. It's personal. People don't want their employer knowing they're drinking too much. There's shame wrapped around it.
But the reality is that people show up to work hungover. They drink to handle stress from work. They miss deadlines because of drinking. Families fall apart partly because of alcohol. It affects everything.
By bringing doctors in and creating actual space to talk, Crossroads Insurance Brokers  signaled that this topic isn't taboo. You can ask questions. You can think about your own habits. You can think about your coworkers.

The Collaboration

National Paper Industry and Aster Clinic working with  Crossroads Insurance Brokers on this wasn't accidental. It showed commitment. Three organizations saying yes to spending an hour on something difficult but real.
Hosting it at the factory itself mattered. People didn't have to go somewhere else. They stepped out of work for an hour, learned something useful, and went back. That convenience probably got more people to show up than if they had to schedule an appointment elsewhere.

What People Actually Took Away

The employees who attended left with information. They understood what heavy drinking does. They knew what warning signs to watch for. They had a list of places to get support if they needed it.
But something else happened too. They saw that their workplace would talk honestly about something messy and real. Not pretending alcohol isn't part of people's lives. Not acting like everyone's got it handled. Just saying: this thing affects people, let's talk about it.
The session wrapped up with "Choose Awareness. Choose Wellness." Simple line. But it was about making choices from a place of kn owing what's actually happening, not just hoping things work out.
For a workplace, that's really the beginning of something. Not everyone will quit drinking or overhaul their life. But some people will think differently about their choices. Some will reach out for help who wouldn't have otherwise. Some will pay attention when a coworker starts having problems.
That's what awareness actually does.
